Interview with two student-entrepreneurs under the PEPITE 3EF scheme.
Tell us briefly about your project.
Salacia is a brand of ethical clothing. We reduce our environmental impact as much as possible, by limiting water use during the manufacturing process of our organic cotton clothing and banishing plastic from our products, for example. We also pay close attention to workers’ conditions; we work with a subsidiary which aims to develop poor countries by paying workers decently and we ensure that safety standards are complied with in factories. To date, we have obtained 6 certifications proving that our clothing is respectful of the environment and human conditions.
Where did your idea come from and how did you begin working together on this project?
We met at the university through a programme geared towards entrepreneurs. We realised we had two passions in common: the environment and clothing. One thing led to another, and we decided to create a brand of eco-responsible clothing together.
Where is Salacia at today, and what are your aims for the future?
We recently launched our crowdfunding campaign on Ulule, where we’ve placed our clothing for pre-sale. Right now, we’re trying to present our project to as many people as possible, so we can raise funds thanks to their support for the environmental and human cause.
