Université Gustave Eiffel has been included in the prestigious ranking of the world's 1,000 best universities - a pleasant surprise for our new institution.

Good news for our institution as this summer draws to a close. Université Gustave Eiffel has joined the prestigious Shanghai Ranking of the world's 1000 best universities''. It is ranked 701-800th.

"This entry demonstrates the success of the projects to bring universities together, driven by the Investments for the Future Programme (PIA). In the case of our university, bringing together UPEM, IFSTTAR and the four member schools, EAV&T, EIVP, ENSG and ESIEE Paris, has probably increased the number of publications in category A journals and thus significantly boosted the profile of our very young institution. It's obviously a pleasant surprise to appear in this ranking ", remarks a delighted Hélène Jacquot-Guimbal, the university's acting Vice-Chancellor.

International training courses

The internationalisation of training is a key challenge for Université Gustave Eiffel and is the subject of several initiatives and projects that have been launched since its creation on 1 January 2020. Here are two examples:

  • Creation of a university degree in road safety in Africa: the TS2 department designed a university degree on road safety in Africa composed of a 120-hour programme covering the five pillars of road safety: management, infrastructure, vehicles, users and post-crash response. The course will start in the academic year of 2021-2022.

  • Université Gustave Eiffel has joined the ERASMUS+ Athena project, “University Goes Digital for a Sustainable Global Education”, led in collaboration with the University Institute of Lisbon, the University of Florence and the Sigmund Freud University of Vienna. The project aims to increase digital skills among university teachers and their strengthen ability to take on challenges such as those facing universities during the Covid crisis. Thanks to active involvement from teaching staff and students during the initial phases of the project, Athena will design, test and launch innovative digital practices to create new teaching practises and provide better learning and teaching experiences. The project will develop models with which teachers can adapt their classes using different teaching methods: the new toolbox will include digital books, videos, games, quizzes, etc. The project is partnered by the French-Speaking University Agency (AUF), the University of Santiago in Cape Verde, the UFRJ in Brazil and ESSEC-Tunis in Tunisia, whose roles are to contribute to the wide dissemination of the project's results in order to maximise its impact.
